Traditional Media

Last week I decided to try out a new hobby... watercolors!

It has been a while since I've used analog drawing tools, so it took a bit to get used to not having a handy "Undo" button. With painting on paper, if you mess up and are unable to salvage it, you start again. As I learned quickly, if you think too hard about where to place your brush next for fear of screwing up, you won't create anything.

The greeting card format helped me focus my art to a specific function.

It feels good to get away from the screen every now and then. Perhaps digital tools are more forgiving, but I've found that just using paper and a pen can inspire a lot of spontaneity. Now I've got a huge pile of greeting/valentine cards ready to share!
